DAY 1 Travel. Check in to Hotel Colon.
DAY 2 Acclimation and travel for chaperones. Walking tour of Merida, Mexico.
DAY 3 8:00 a.m. Leave the hotel to visit Ek Balam. After that we continue to Uayma, to visit the church, which is a unique example of Mudehar style. This church is in function so we ask that the ladies dress properly. From there we go to Ik-Kil, a beautiful cenote, where you can swim. From there we return to Merida.
DAY 4 9:00 a.m. We visit the IMA School, a bilingual school, for the opportunity to interact with local students. FREE AFTERNOON.
DAY 5 8:00 a.m. Depart from Merida (check out of hotel before 8:00). Visit Uxmal and continue to Campeche, the hidden treasure of Mexico. Settle into lodging at the Hotel Baluartes. After dinner, a walking tour of downtown which has been awarded the “Cultural Patrimony of Humanity” twice by UNESCO.
DAY 6 7:00 a.m. Depart for a 2.5 hour trip to the Calakmul Biosphere Reserve, where we visit Balam Ku. Afterwards we continue to Chicanna for lodging at Chicanna Ecovillage and to visit the site. Both are small but beautiful sites.
DAY 7 8:00 a.m. Leave the hotel and visit the towers of Xpujil. From there we travel back to Merida for lodging at Hotel Colon.
DAY 8 8:00 a.m. Trip to Celestun, to visit the Ria, where the biggest flock of flamingos outside Africa can be found, and the “Baldiosera,” a sweet water spring in the middle of the estuary. Then, time to eat and for the beach.
DAY 9 Depart students
DAY 10 Depart chaperones.
